The run of great golf continued into event #5 as 53 cool weather linksters toured the historic Bay Course at Seaview GC last Monday and put some very good numbers on the scoreboard. A member of Seaview’s professional staff, Cliff Still continued his winning streak and took first gross in the Open division with 75. Professional Joe Casey from Pennsauken GC topped the Open net with a 2 under 69. In the Senior division, Steve Wolbert, playing out of the Centerton GC finished first in gross with 78. The Centerton guys continued their winning ways as Mark Wiley applied a 12 handicap to a nice 83 for 71 and the net victory. The best round of the day took place in the Super Senior division as John Blackmon combined nines of 38 & 32 for a one under 70 gross. The Juniata GC player and retired Philly police officer was one stroke ahead of Mercer Oak’s Tom DiCinti, who finished at even par 71. John made three birdies and an eagle and Tom carded four birdies. Hats off to this great play. In the SS net some more super golf was played as Jerry Convery from Wedgwood GC beat his age by four strokes and the resultant 74 less his 10 handicap was good for the win. Jerry parred every hole on the back nine. Very clean scorecard. New member and a PGA apprentice golf pro from Springdale GC, Shawn Camisa stuck it to 11’ 7” on hole #7 to pocket closest to pin money. Shawn completed the triple play with a 2nd net and a skin in the Open division. Jerry Convery continued his winning ways as his shot on #11 stopped 15’ 8” from the cup for the CTP win. Best shot of the day was executed by Dennis Starr on hole #17. He lasered one to within 10’ for the Closest to Pin payoff. The recap of prize winners is attached to this doc.
We’ll be taking off a few days for the Thanksgiving holiday and play will resume on Friday 12/1 at the Links GC in Marlton, NJ. The following week 12/8 we head up to LBI National (formerly Sea Oaks) for event #7. On 12/15 we play the annual “Christmas Scramble” at the Avalon GC and AWGL members may invite a non-member to be their partner for this two-person scramble and the annual membership fee is waived. Reminder that Scramble events are played in two categories (A & B) according to team handicap. Handicaps are computed at 25% of the combined numbers.
Pat, Al and I wish everyone a very happy and enjoyable Thanksgiving and we’ll look forward to seeing everyone at the Links. Please……..Travel Safe.
