What a great day at Golden Pheasant last Friday….the rain held off and the beautifully conditioned golf course provided the venue for some outstanding play and scoring. Running Deer GC’s PGA professional, Dan Hoban took the low gross money in the Open division winning in a playoff over fellow PGA pro, George Frake from the Moorestown Field Club. Both pros tied with 77’s along with Mitch Primas from White Oaks and Rich Wade playing out of the host club. Dan won on the first extra hole. Mitch and Rich finished 1-2 in Open net with 71’s as Mitch won the playoff on the 3rd extra hole. The prize winner’s recap and scoresheets are attached.

There were three rounds of even par 72 on the scoreboard and Gene Flanagan from Delaware’s DuPont CC combined nines of 35 & 37 to win Senior gross. A highlight of the day occurred when Larry Lauterborn from Juniata GC in Philly nailed a five iron stinger into the cup for a hole in one on #8. This great shot lead to Larry posting an 83 minus his 19 handicap for 64 and the win  in Senior division net. Needles to say, he won the closest to pin on #8. Larry made it a “Triple Play” by grabbing a skin on #8.

In the Super Seniors (ages 66 & up) the scoring really heated up as Dave Jacobson made eight birdies enroute to nines of 2 under 34 and a winning gross score of 4 under par 68. Dave is from Medford Village CC and four of his birds held up to win skins. Two more even par 72’s were carded by Bill Giulian from Juniata GC and Tom DiCinti from Lookaway GC Bill took Super Senior net with 61 and Tom finished runner-up in SS gross. Great shot making by these veteran cool weather linksters. The Centerton GC was well represented as pro, Chad Cerino nailed a shot on #15 to 4’ 9” and pocketed closest to pin money. Chad was joined by Kevin Rabbai as his ball stopped 10’ 10” from the flagstick on  hole #11 for the CTP win.

Looking ahead to next event at The Links GC on 3/1, the weather forecast is very favorable and if you are planning to play, please text/email me your groups. The following Friday 3/8 is the two-person scramble at Running Deer GC and you may invite a non-member to be your partner….all we need is a verifiable handicap.
