Season 37 of the AWGL got off to a nice start at the beautifully conditioned Avalon Golf Club last Friday and the cool weather linksters posted some very good numbers. With temps reaching the high 70’s and the course in pristine shape, one could not ask for a better day to test their shot making skills. Leading the Open division gross was Seaview’s Cliff Still with a nice even par 71 on nines of 36-35. Dave Newkirk, playing out of Running Deer, posted a 77 to go with his 15 handicap and the resulting 62 was low in Open net. Second Open net went to Larry Silk and he made it a triple play with two skins and closest to pin on #15. The Senior division was closely contested as Running Deer’s Tom Alestock carded nines of 36 – 37 and his 73 was good for low gross. Tom doubled down with the closest to pin on #11. Close behind was Steve Wolbert from Centerton with 74 and with his 8 handicap the 66 took Senior net. Things didn’t slow down in the Super Senior division as Mike Owsik from the M Golf Center in Bryn Mawr, PA went out in 2 under 34 and came back with 37 for 71 and the top spot in gross. Dave Jacobson from Medford Village finished in second place with 72 as did Eagle Ridge’s Hank Huelsebusch. Hank’s 64 was good for first in SS net. Hand also added to his winnings with closest to pin on #5. Attached is the recap of prize winners and the gift cards will be available at our next event on Friday 11/3 at the Valleybrook GC.

A big thank you to the great staff at Avalon and especially to the pros, Ted Wenner and Dennis Jones. These gentlemen go way out of their way to provide us a most enjoyable day of golf. Next event at Avalon is the Christmas Scramble on 12/15. Please text or email me if you are planning to play at Valleybrook next Friday.

With the help of new AWGL member Jeff Lek, we have a new website and you can access it;   www.atlanticwintergolfleague.com   We’ll see everyone at Valleybrook and please…..travel safe.
