Another beautiful day for the current AWGL season at the Links GC last Friday and 54 players enjoyed the testy course, posting some very good numbers on the scoreboard. PGA pro, Dan Hoban from the Running Deer GC scored a triple play…..Open Division low gross with 74, closest to pin on hole #8 at 3’ and two skins on #8 & #18. Good playing….Dan! Playing out of the Moorestown FC, PGA pro, George Frake took the low net in Open with 72. Some more action in the Open as PGA pro, Mitch Primas nailed it to 1’ 11” on hole #17 and collected the closest to pin money.
Best round of the day was posted by Dave West as he shot an even par 72 on nines of 36 – 36 and the win in Senior Division gross. Dave is from Exton, PA and this was his 7th win of the season. The Cobra Golf tech rep also added to his prize pool with skins on holes #2 & #6. Its two wins in a row for Juniata GC’s Larry Lauterborn as he paired his recently lowered handicap of 18 with a gross score of 88 and the 2 under 70 was good for first place in Senior net. Larry’s entry fee at the Links was covered by his hole in one winnings from the week before at Golden Pheasant
Super Senior Division heated up and Rocky Dare from Running Deer GC edged Juniata’s John Blackmon by a single stroke….74 to 75 and world champion equestrian took low gross. Centerton GC was well represented as John “Judge” Kaspar went low with a gross 76 and minus his 12 handicap (now 11)) the resulting 64 finished atop the SS net division. There were five rounds under 80 in the Super Seniors. John Blackmon had the best CTP shot of the day as he carved one in to 19” on #14 for the win. It’s always a good day at the Links and a big thank you to GM Mark Kreiws and his staff for providing us with a very enjoyable tournament.
We’re down to the last regular season event…the 2 person scramble at Running Deer on Friday 3/8…and we have 25 teams on the sheet. This has always been a super fun time and if you are planning to play, please text/email me your team. You may invite a non-member as a partner and all we need is a verifiable handicap. Most of the arrangements have been made for the championship at Avalon GC on Friday 3/15. Following golf we will have brunch at which time winners will be announced and the cash prizes will be paid. The gift card winners will get their prizes via mail. Looking forward to seeing everyone at “The Deer” and please………Travel Safe!
