Fifty-nine cool weather linksters were very cordially greeted at the Shore Gate Golf Club and this beautifully conditioned course put up a very stern test for them. At even par 72 was Philadelphia PGA pro, Jason Panter and he was one stroke ahead of Seaview pro, Cliff Still’s 73 for first place in Open Division gross. Mitch Primas, pro and GM at White Oaks also shot 73 and with his 6 handicap the 67 took Open net. Jason added to his winnings by nailing it to 1’ 2” on the par three 5th hole and the closest to pin victory.

Dave West from Exton, PA set an AWGL record with his 7th win in Senior Division gross as he combined nines of 35 & 37 for the winning 72. Dave has two runner ups and a low net and looks like a very likely candidate for Senior POY. Playing out of the DuPont CC in Delaware, Gene Flanagan posted a 66 (74 gross – 8 handicap )for the win in Senior net. The Seniors produced two more winners as Centerton’s Gary Peart won closest to pin on hole #8 with his shot stopping 8’ 3” from the flagstick. Greg Van Meter, also from Centerton GC stuck it to 2’ 2” on hole #14 for the CTP victory.

Four rounds of 75 were played in the Super Senior Division (ages 66 & up) and taking low gross in a four hole playoff was Mike Owsik Sr. from the M Golf Center in Bryn Mawr, PA. Bruce Apple from The Legacy Club at Woodcrest applied a handicap of 7 to his round of 75 and finished in first place SS net with 68. Real good play by these veteran linksmen.

The forecast for our next event…#15… at Ron Jaworski’s Blue Heron Pines GC has improved a bit and we are now looking at temps in the mid 40’s with some brisk shore breezes. Definitely layer up as this could be our coldest event of the season. Looking forward to seeing everyone at BHP and please……Travel Safe.
